Real Russian Vodka (750ml)

SKU #1137471

Real Russian Vodka is not made in Russia, so it's neither Russian nor "really" Russian, but it is authentically Russian in style. Made at Premiere Distillery in Gurnee, Illinois, the grains are all sourced from the midwest and the recipe is an actual family heirloom handed down from Russian ancestors since 1905. Today, its third-generation distiller Grigory Polevy creates small batches of high-proof spirit that are blended together to create the final bottling. While modern, new-world vodka distillation has focused on turning vodka into a light, smooth, and almost characterless Cosmopolitan mixer, the old-school Eastern European vodka is decidedly more interesting. There's more intensity and focus in each sip. I consider myself a fan of the Russian style, opting for Russian Standard or even Poland's Potocki Vodka when making a drink. Our owner Clyde Beffa feels the same way. He actually discovered Real Russian while travelling through Chicago and instantly fell in love. He told me to get him some. The only problem was that Real Russian wasn't available in California, so we had to hire our own distributor to freight it over just for us. Clyde and I aren't the only two fans of this pure, clean, yet potent style of spirit. While small, Real Russian has garnered medals from the SF Spirits Competition, and 92 point ratings from both the Wine Enthusiast and Tasting Panel. Now we've got it. (David Driscoll)

United States

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.
