2012 Ronco Blanchis Pinot Grigio Collio

SKU #1136621 Wine Spectator

Hints of walnut and sous-bois underscore notes of dried apricot, lemon preserves and yellow apple, all backed by well-cut acidity. (Web-2014)

K&L Notes

Sitting in the northeastern corner of Italy on the border of Slovenia, Collio has an ancient winegrowing history and remains an important DOC zone for quality white wines. Here the Palla family, led by patriarch Giancarlo, produces distinctive wines from these Friulian lands. Densely planted vines produce a terroir-driven Pinot Grigio, which features a flinty profile with notes of pear and fine minerals.

This is what Pinot Grigio is all about. The Collio in northwest part of Italy, they are producing the most distinctive whites. This wine over delivers for the price! This has a great intensity of floral and stone fruit on the nose. Great acidity but with a surprising weight on the palate. Great freshness and tanginess with a very long finish.
