2010 Bon Pasteur, Pomerol
What a wine. Cool purple fruit at first with plums, coffee and red peppercorns. Very elegant on the palate opening up with a great texture and finesse. Deep and profound yet still so harmonious. Hazelnut and chocolate. It comes together beautifully.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A fleshy, full-throttle wine with lots of mocha, kirsch, mulberry, and plum, their 2010 displays a smorgasbord of aromas, a full-bodied mouthfeel, terrific purity, density and even a hint of lead pencil shavings and subtle toasty oak. If you want to understand the genius of the Rollands, there is no better example than looking at their own wine from this property in Pomerol. The tannins are present, but not that significant, thus I tend to think the wine will come into its own in 4-5 years and last for 20 or more.
Firm while also rounded, very rich Merlot spice and blackberry character. There are hugely dense, extracted tannins, with a final dark fruit character.

(80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc; 14% alcohol) Deep ruby-red. Floral aromas of black fruits, violet and smoky oak, with complicating notes of sweet spices and underbrush. Juicy and sweet on the palate, with flavors similar to the aromas. In a distinctly lighter style than usual, but with insidious soil-driven perfume extending straight through to the moderately long finish. Wonderfully smooth, silky tannins have a peppery kick. The Pomerol subzone of Maillet, where Le Bon Pasteur is situated, has never benefited from the consideration that other Pomerol subzones enjoy, but Bon Pasteur, owned by Michel and Dany Rolland, has been an overperformer for many years.
Juicy and fresh, offering a friendly core of damson plum, raspberry and black cherry, with plenty of sweet toasty vanilla bean and licorice notes. A caressing, polished structure guides the finish. Rather forward in the end. For fans of the style. Drink now through 2020.
Very obvious perfume - all spicy and aromatic. Open-knit palate, firm but accessible. Opulent. 17/20 points.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. This is Michel and Dany Rolland's flagship estate.
