Nero d'Avola, a grape that many see as destined to produce cherry and plum fruited, cocoa powdery, simple mass market wines, can in fact make more complex, interesting stuff. Gulfi makes such a nero d'avola: fruity to be sure, but with the intensity, purity and added lift from bright acidity that will make you want to pour another glass and buy another bottle.
