2008 Suavia "Le Rive" Soave Classico

SKU #1129496 95 points James Suckling

What aromas! It shows black liquorice, aniseed, fennel, dried pineapple and flowers. Full-bodied, with layers of ripe fruit and a wonderful intensity. Dense and fruity yet then turns very dry. This is like drinking Clos St. Hune late harvest. 30% is aged in barrels for a year and the rest in stainless, and then left two years in bottle. Old vines - 80 years old. 20,000 bottles. One of the best whites of Italy... (10/2012)

Smoke and vanilla overtones accent flavors of poached pear, kumquat, fresh hay, star anise and guava in this well-meshed white, which offers fine, bright acidity for balance, with a long, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2020. 101 cases imported. (6/2012)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

The beautiful thing about this wine is the richness and creaminess of the mouthfeel. The bouquet opens with notes of peach, vanilla custard, pear and a zesty touch of lemon peel. Pair this with shellfish or poached salmon steaks. (11/2012)
