Quinta do Tedo Tawny Port
Still relatively pink. Sweet toffeed fruit on the nose. Rich and full in the mouth. Easy but quite dense and concentrated for a tawny. Quite a distinct style.
Quinta do Tedo is a single quinta Port house owned by Vincent Bouchard (you may have heard of Bouchard Pere et Fils as well as Domaine William Fevre, both owned by his relatives). Vincent, however, chose to strike out on his own many years ago, first by working for a cooperage and then by seeking out a property where he could produce delicious wine as organically as possible. He found his spot at Quinta do Tedo, which is now making some very stylish ports. This is a lovely tawny, a fresher, younger and fruitier style that is not too sweet and has just the barest hint of nuttiness on the finish. Terrific balance. (Joe Manekin, K&L Port buyer)
