Like nectar, this is thick and pure, yet almost weightless as it layers the apricot, honey and burnt molasses flavors effortlessly from start to finish. Shows amazing harmony, and the flavors last long after there is no liquid on the palate. Drink now through 2025. 208 cases made.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2004 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is another in a series of beautiful, exotic sweet wines from Rocca di Montegrossi. It is a huge wine bursting with dried figs, molasses, burnt sugar, spices and dried flowers, all of which come together in a dense, full-throttle style. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout, which keep the wine fresh and vibrant. The estate’s 2004 Vin Santo was made from 95% Malvasia and 5% Canaiolo Nero. The fruit was dried for three months, and the wine spent 5 years and 7 months in small barrels of oak, cherry and mulberry. Residual sugar was a whopping 388 grams. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024.
