2011 Punta Crena "Reine" Mataossu Colline Savonesi

SKU #1111941

Take this wine to your next blind tasting and tell all your wine geek friends that if they can nail this grape, you'll buy them a house on the Italian Riviera. Mataossu is an extremely rare grape, grown only is a small little enclave in Liguria, not far from Genoa. It's very similar to Vermentino, with all the wild, snappy, coastal scrub aromas and flavors and piercing crispness on the palate, but it has an added layer of complexity in the form of a light white peach/orange popsicle note. Beautifully balanced, if you're a fan of high toned, complex, bracingly refreshing white wines that would pair perfectly with a myriad of lighter fare, you will do back flips over this wine. If you like oaky, buttery Chardonnay, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. (Chris Miller, K&L Hollywood Italian wine specialist)
