2007 Caprili Brunello di Montalcino
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino saturates the palate with layers of sweet ripe berries, flowers, licorice and savory herbs. This is a decidedly flashy, fruit-forward style in this vintage yet there is more than enough Sangiovese acidity and tannin to balance some of the wine’s more extroverted leanings. Though quite flashy at first, the 2007 turns more classic and refined with time in the glass. A vibrant finish rounds things out in style. This is a terrific showing from Caprili. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.
*Cellar Selection* This is an austere and sophisticated expression of Sangiovese Grosso, with dried tobacco and spice backed by prune and currant. The fruit is ripe and mature without being overtly jammy, chewy or too sweet. In fact, it presents a savory-sophisticated front with ample concentration and a polished texture. Good aging potential.
Aromas of dried berries, flowers and spices follow through to a full body and silky tannins with a fruity, clean finish. Velvety and delicious.
