2011 Domaine Le Cazal "Tradition" Minervois (Previously $12)

SKU #1108070

Approximately 25 km from the Langeudoc town of Narbonne lies the vineyards of the Minervois. It is here that Claude & Martine Derroja, 5th generation wine growers, farm 18 hectares of vines which are classified as AOC Minervois. Their 2011 "Tradition" is a blend of one third each Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. The three varietals are hand harvested and co-fermented in concrete vats without the use of oak. The resulting wine is an exuberant and rich red that will certainly win over many wine drinkers. Dark berry fruits, damp earth and a certain garrigue-y-ness (think dry roasted herbs) place the "Tradition" squarely in the south of France. Enjoy with more rustic fare like cassoulet or roasted meat dishes. 15% abv.
