"In just 13 years since founding his company, Gérard Bertrand, a former professional rugby player, has rocketed to the top of the quality pyramid in the southern French wine region known as Languedoc-Roussillon. Bertrand personally oversees the blending of his wines, and he owns more than 660 acres in the region. Bertrand's best wines feature distinctive, rich and pure fruit flavors without being overwhelmed by too much oak. He is a man to watch in the south of France." . (6/2011)

K&L Notes

Located just north of the Franco-Spanish border, the village of Tautavel is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees. Over the years it has garnered a fine reputation for producing for wines of higher quality than much of the surrounding Côtes du Rousillon A.O.C. For this reason, Gérard Bertrand has created a prestige cuvée showcasing some of the best vineyards and terroir of the region. 15% abv.

Gerard Bertrand's Homage to the wine growing region of Tautavel is also a great representation of the quality and deliciousness coming out of the Roussillon these days. Deep and rich, but not overdone, this grenache based red is chock full of raspberry, dark chocolate and a hint of mineral. A grilled steak with provencal herbs or a simple roasted chicken with roasted potatos will work just great with this hearty red from the south of France.
Drink from 2012 to 2017
