2009 Domaine Faverot "Mazet" Côtes du Luberon (Previously $14)
Domaine Faverot was converted in the 1920s from a silk worm farm to a wine growing domaine. Today, it thrives under the guidance of François and Sally Faverot de Kerbrech. The domaine is situated in the foothills of the Luberon mountain range in France's southern Rhône Valley. The 20 acres of classic Rhône varietals are surrounded by pine forests and wild provençal garrigue. The 2009 Domaine Faverot Côtes du Luberon Mazet is a traditional and delicious red made from the classic local grapes of the area, Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. It has a deep red color with an intense minerally nose with red fruit notes. On the palate it is round, medium to full-bodied with, again, dark fruit flavors of blackcurrant and raspberries. The finish is long with hints of spice. Terrific with lamb burgers. 14% abv.
