Lanson Black Label Champagne (375ml)
Firm and smoky, offering flavors of candied cherry, bread dough, lemon zest and toasted raisin bread, with a lively bead. Moderate finish. Drink now through 2015.

Light gold. Pungent bouquet evokes poached pear, mango and honey. Ripe and broad, with warm tropical fruit flavors and a touch of smokiness on the back end. Shows good heft on the clinging, slightly warm finish.
Lanson’s Black Label is one of the most familiar Champagne brands, well known for its rich but dry style. It needs some bottle age—as has happened with this bottling—to soften the crispness. The wine is rounded out with toast, puff pastry and freshened with apple skins.
This house is making a big comeback. A big toasty nose leads to a convincing, rich palate impression and a clean, refreshing finish. The wine is made from 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier and vinified without malolactic fermentation. The fruit comes from all Grand and Premier Cru areas within Champagne and it tastes like it! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
