2007 Produttori del Barbaresco "Pora" Riserva (Pre-Arrival)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is the revelation among the 2007s. Pora is one of the warmer microclimates in Barbaresco owing to its proximity to the Tanaro River. In most vintages Pora is a fairly open wine. The 2007 captures the very best qualities of this site in a radiant, deep expression of fruit. The wine literally covers every inch of the palate as it fleshes out in the glass. The Pora will never be one of the most complex wines here, but today it is immensely enjoyable, not to mention that the 2007 is one of the very finest Poras in recent memory. It will be great to drink young, but also appears to have the stuffing to age well for a number of years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.
There's an iodine and seashore element on the nose, with a note of mint. Cherry and raspberry flavors enter the fray, and the steely tannins lend their taciturn support. Savory, though cool and aloof in character, with moderate length. Best from 2015 through 2025. 1,416 cases made. –BS

Good medium red. Cherry, plum, strawberry and spices on the soft, sweet nose. Plump and easygoing, in a distinctly soft style and unusually sweet for this bottling. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins and decent length. Perhaps a bit too easy but perfect for enjoying now.
Produttori del Barbaresco is a type of cooperative arrangement between 56 growers in Barbaresco. Its roots go back to 1958 when small growers of the region working in cooperation with the priest of Barbaresco village came together to ensure the quality and uniqueness of their production. Each family still maintains their small vineyard holdings, and most years these are blended into either bottlings of Barbaresco or Nebbiolo, and in great years there can be one or more of 9 single vineyards produced. These wines will always have their vineyards and growers noted and are quite special.
