2008 San Felice Chianti Classico (Previously $17)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
San Felice’s 2008 Chianti Classico (Sangiovese) offers up dried red cherries, flowers, tobacco and underbrush on a medium-bodied frame. The somewhat delicate, fleeting style suggests this is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. Flowers, menthol and dried herbs add lovely complexity on the finish.
Full of sweet cherry, raspberry, floral and balsamic notes, this red presents a tension between sweet fruit and wild, leafy elements, followed by a firm finish. Best from 2013 through 2020.
San Felice is located in the Berardegna (South Eastern corner) sub-region of the Chianti Classico and this wine represents their wonderful value priced Chianti. Made from 100% Sangiovese and aged entirely in large Slavonian oak casks this delicious, seemingly "under the radar" Chianti is a classic. Pair with firm cheeses, pork, meats, poultry, stews and pastas.
