2011 Dos Minas Torrontes Cafayate Valley

SKU #1085178

I have a tough time remembering any torrontes I have tried as delicious as this one. It has all of the typical spicy, floral aromatic notes, as well as a lovely rich scent of fresh tangerines. Juicy red grapefruit and mandarin flavors lead the way on the palate - vibrant and full of recently bottled freshness. (Joe Manekin, K&L South Ameridan wine buyer)

This is the white wine that I would forsake all other white wines for! Well done, Minas! Characteristic Torrontes: white flowers, peaches, apricots, and honey with fleshy acid and a silky stone fruit compote on the palate. Medium body and juicy. Enjoy on its own- but this wine can stand up to a tomato artichoke garlic chicken sausage sauce with pasta! Promise!

- Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally. The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. And Malbec, among other Bordeaux varietals grown here, reigns supreme.
