Weighty and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering sappy orange zest and redcurrant flavors and a bracing note of chalky minerality. This wondrous bubbly is half Pinot Noir and half Chardonnay, all from the 2002 vintage. It is a complex and intense wine with aromas of brioche and grilled French bread along with honey and fig. A fine and delicate finish makes it ideal with seafoods and sushi.

Intense aromatics on the nose; flowery as well as fruity. Marmalade, cocoa, brioche, all coming together to make a sip of this champagne an event all in itself. Absolutely divine!

Of the many attributes that distinguish this Champagne, what really stands out to me is that all fruit comes from the Paillard's massal-selected old vines - the very best vines that the Paillard's selected and propogated over the years despite governement laws requiring replacement. It is truly a rare gem, from the best of the best in a Grand Cru site. Composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, this Champagne offers intense aromas and flavors of lemon peel, creamy lees, puff pastry, and vanilla spice. The palate is rich, full, and creamy, with layers of nutty complexity. Hints of white chocolate and cacao bean add depth and intrigue to the finish. It's 2002 but has so much power and vitality! This is an incredible Champagne to savor over a meal now, but will continue to evolve gracefully in bottle for years to come. Cheers.

Pierre Paillard is lucky enough to be able to say that all of his family owned vineyards are Bouzy Grande Cru, not such a shabby place to call home. His Vinatage 2002 wine is a split of 50% each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and spends an impressive 8 years on the lees, creating a rich and nuances wine that is quite seriously good. Spicy and rich up front, notes of toasted hazel nut and vanilla spice. This is a full bodied wine that deserves a dinner table of shellfish and friends. This bottle would also see improvement with a few years in the cellar for those of you who lay down Champagne. Either way, come taste one of the newest additions to our direct import line up, you wont be disappointed.
