2009 Alois "Campole" Aglianico Campania
Fattoria Alois is located at the foothills of the Caiatini Mountains in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius in the province of Caserta where the Alois family, led by Michele and Massimo, cultivates nine beautiful hectares. Many generations of the family have worked in the silk business, producing fine textiles that have been displayed in the Louvre, the Vatican, the Quirinale (home of the president of Italy) and the White House. IWith a similar passion, they began producing wines in 2000, working with local varieties of Casavecchia, Pallagrello Bianco, Aglianico and Falanghina grapes while adhering to biological and sustainable techniques and farming. This red comes from volcanic soils from estate vineyards in the foothills of the Caiatini Mountains, which impart a very mineral character. The Campole is fermented in stainless steel after a maceration of 14 days and aged for 4-6 months in Botti (large oak ovals). This is a very pure expression of the land and is produced without the influence of oak. Pairs well with game, lamb and pork.
