2009 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
*Two Stars* A flashy, opulent Cabernet. You could even call it sexy. It’s so soft and luxurious in blackberry, blueberry and cassis flavors. Absolutely delicious by any standard, yet the dry structure maintains elegant balance.
Supple and creamy-textured, with mocha, ripe plum and cherry flavors that show touches of tobacco, espresso and underbrush. Full-bodied, gaining tannic traction on the finish, elegant and readily approachable. (JL)
The 2009 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sure to deliver what fans of Caymus have come to expect--fruit and plenty of it. The 2009 Caymus is dark red in the glass with hints of wild red cherry, blackberry, mocha and chocolate notes on the nose while the palate is a mixture of rich black fruits, bakers chocolate, sweet oak and supple tannins. The finish is long and smooth and hints that this wine has a long life ahead of it. I was surprised by how opulent and open-knit the fruit was, as well as how well the tannins had already integrated into the wine. Fans of Caymus should not miss out on this classic offering.
