2006 Podere La Vigna Brunello di Montalcino
Showing mushroom, leather and bouillon aromas and flavors, this broad-shouldered red is backed by stiff tannins. Finishes on the dry side today, but there's sweetness as well. Still needs time. Best from 2014 through 2027.
This is full-bodied, with soft tannins and a bright acidity. It shows a good amount of berries, cedar, tobacco and chocolate character. Long and silky finish. Hard not to drink now.
With slightly browning color on the rim, this territory-driven Brunello opens with vertical aromas of white cherry, root beer, vanilla cream and cured meat. Drink after 2015.
The Rubegni family has roots in the Tuscan countryside going back for generations, and they have been proprietors and growers of Podere La Vigna since 1973. Estate vineyards with southeast to southwest exposure were exclusively sourced for this Brunello di Montalcino. The wine spent two years before being bottled and further rested before release.
