2002 Bruno Michel "Pauline" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

SKU #1073431

The best bottling from one of our best producers, the newly released 2002 Pauline is one of the finest wines in K&L's bubbly stock. This Champagne is made from organic, estate vines of 35-60 years old in Moussy in Pierry, south of Epernay. It has been fermented in old oak barrels and aged for 10 months in them before being bottled and aged on the lees for 7 years. The wine has a pale color, with a spring of tiny bubbles and a nose of sweet spice cake and fragrant white flowers. This is elegant, restrained Champagne with a very long, gentle finish. It should keep for more than a decade, but will certainly make any occasion between now and then special! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

I tried this bubbly last month and again last Saturday, 10 December with some big names such as Krug, Grande Dame and Bollinger. This wines turned out to be one of the favorites, just after the 1998 vintage Krug. This is a fairly "big" style of blanc de blanc with a floral nose, rich fruit and evident oak. The classic notes of minerals and citrus are there as well, so this wine has something for everyone! It is simply stupendous and we have a limited number of bottles to sell. So, if you are pondering purchasing it, I would advise you not to wait.

Absolutely delicious. Lemon meringue, caramel and exotic spices and cloves on the nose. The palate is quite juicy, but reminded me of some great Burgundy. Indeed it has a long and very elegant finish.

Wow. This is my favorite from Bruno Michel now. The wine is aged 7 months on the lees and 10 months in the bottle gives this Champagne a beautiful elegant texture with floral and spice on the nose with pear and mineral on the palate. This is great to drink now or age!!!!
