2008 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc
Fruity, attractively balanced wine, the spice and caramel wood flavors fitting well into the sweet, berry fruits.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Cantemerle tends to produce somewhat understated and restrained, but finesse-filled wines. The medium-bodied 2008 offers elegant notes of raspberries, red currants, crushed rocks and oak backed up by good concentration, sweet tannin and no hard edges. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. (RP)
Smoky, toasty notes frame black cherry, tar and licorice flavors in this solid, lively red, with fresh acidity, firm tannins and a smoky finish. Nicely polished. Drink now through 2015.
*½ 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This has blackberry aromas that explode from the glass with forward, black fruit flavors and rounded tannins on the palate. A great value. Much better than their 2005 and 2007. On par with their 2006. At UGC: Old school wine. Big wine with tons of blackberry flavors.
