Isabelle and Jo Pithon along with Wendy and Joseph Paillé (Isabelle's son) established Pithon-Paillé in 2008. Pithon-Paillé focuses on quality wine grown from organic vineyards and vinifying in neutral oak. As négociant, this allows them to explore in different appellations with different terroirs. Always working with Chenin Blanc in the white and Cabernet Franc in the red. This wine is a blend of grapes grown on the slopes of the Loire, in the heart of the Layon on schistes terroir and from Saumur on limestone. Vinified in neutral oak barrels and a 60 hl oak tank.

Whoa...maybe the best Anjou I've ever had. Certainly the most complex. This will easily age for several years. Incredible minerality, fabulous ripe white fruit and flower aromas. The palate shows more unusual flavors like lemon sorbet, rainbow sherbet, for some reason very icecreamy. I've also got a lot of expletives in my notes which is usually a good sign...

Chenin Blanc

- Also called Pineau de la Loire and Pineau d'Anjou. Chenin Blanc is an expressive white French varietal that makes beautiful dry, sweet and sparkling wines. Traditionally grown in the Loire Valley, the wines made from this varietal are typically labeled geographically. Vouvray Chenins are traditionally medium-sweet; Savennières Chenins are typically bright and crisp; Coteaux du Layon Chenins like Bonezeaux and Quarts de Chaume are among the world's most sought-after sweet wines, and the sparkling Chenins of Saumur are perfumed and delicious. - Of all of the French wine producing regions, the Loire might produces the greatest variety of wines.
