2009 Wine Man Khvanchkara Semi Sweet Red Republic of Georgia

SKU #1069864

Another fascinating semi-sweet wine from the Republic of Georgia, a country whose winemaking history dates back before the common era (BCE)--some nine to 11 thousand years. Yeah, that's some old winemaking culture, people. The Khvanchkara is made from half Alexandreuli and half Mujuretuli, none of which you have to be able to pronounce to enjoy its sweet-savory character. Slightly more floral than the Kindzmarauli, is has dusty sour cherry and game notes on the nose, and sweet, juicy blackberry, cherry and currant fruit flavors on the palate. Like the Kindzmarauli, it would pair well with spicy meats, think chorizo, or something drenched in barbecue sauce of the grill.
