Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed, exotic bouquet of dark berries, cherry-cola, smoked meat, Indian spices and incense. Weighty dark berry and cherry compote flavors are supported by velvety tannins and complicated by strong spice and anise notes. A succulent floral pastille element appears on the sweet, persistent, spicy finish. This could only be syrah.

Dense and powerful, with a strong presence of tar, roasted herb, shoe leather, hot rock and savory underbrush. The fruit that's there-and it's there-simply needs time. Best from 2012 through 2022.

K&L Notes
The Dry Stack Vineyard, located in the cooler micro-climate of Sonoma County's Bennett Valley, produces some exceptional fruit. The 2008 from Eric Kent is a BIG wine, packed to the gills with smoke, savory herbs, roasted meat, iron, espresso, freshly-tilled soil and decadent blackberry fruit, but it's also got a surprisingly refreshing backbone that bodes well for the wine as it knits together in your cellar. Give this a long decant if you find it irresistable now, otherwise wait a year or two.
