2008 Huët Le Mont Moulleax Premiere Trie Vouvray
Intense, with green tea, ginger, quince, green fig and heather notes offset by a bracing streak of melon rind on the long, pure finish. A delightfully sweet wine, with a long, chiseled feel. Should cruise in the cellar for a decade at least. Drink now through 2025. 750 cases made.

Light, bright yellow. Ripe pear and white peach aromas are complemented by candied orange, honey and a hint of fig. Pliant pit fruit and spice flavors show a distinctly sweet character that is lifted by slow-building minerality. Very rich but energetic as well, with strong finishing punch and echoes of honey and orange marmalade. Put this away for at least another few years or give it some air.

The Huet 2008 Vouvray Moelleux Le Mont 1er Trie smells of distilled herbal and floral essences mingled with saline and alkaline marine notes. In the mouth, hints of white raisin and caramel are pitted against slightly detached citricity. This harbors lots of energy though and achieves really long, saliva-inducing finishing savor. While the sec and demi-sec 2008s have noticeably more residual sugar than their 2009 counterpart largely as the result of a decision to assist balancing the acidity, this 1er trie harbors only around two-thirds the sugar of the corresponding 2009, simply because the 2009 material was so very rich and thus left so much sugar to spare. But I like the less sweet balance in this 2008 that needs at least 3-4 years in bottle and ought to perform well for 25 or more.
Very intense, luscious stuff. Honeyed. SO tangy and toasty on the finish. Just finishes slightly dry. Much more concentrated than the Haut-Lieu Moelleux, and more youthful. Needs lots and lots of time - very high acidity.
