1989 Camensac, Haut-Médoc
Not quite as good as the '88, but very well made, with a fine balance of coffee, tobacco and vanilla aromas and flavors and medium tannins.
A Classified Growth from 1855, Camensac has not always shared the acclaim of its neighbors in the Haut-Médoc appellation. Since 1964, however, the Forner family renovated the chateau, the winemaking facilities, and brought this venerable estate into the modern era. The vineyards are underlain with gravel and sand, and consist of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.
