2009 Yellow + Blue Torrontes Cafayete (1L Box) (Previously $10)

SKU #1062940

An exciting project headed up by former Kermit Lynch staffer Matt Cain, Yellow + Blue focuses on sourcing organic fruit, vinifying it in as natural a way as possible, and packaging the wine in environmentally friendly one liter tetra pak boxes. To wit: a case of wine in glass weighs 40 pounds and holds 9 liters of wine - close to 50% wine and 50% packaging. A case of Yellow+Blue weighs 26 pounds and holds 12 liters of wine. That's 93% wine and 7% packaging. A portion of the profits are donated to the Kiva foundation supporting entrepreneurship in developing countries throughout the world. This Torrontes is the driest in our stock, with spicy yellow fruit and floral blossom aromas leading to a dry, clean palate. Very well made, tasty wine! (Joe Manekin, K&L South American Wine Buyer)

- Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally. The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. And Malbec, among other Bordeaux varietals grown here, reigns supreme.
