2008 Peter Michael "Mon Plaisir" Sonoma County Chardonnay
Unctuous and layered, rich and creamy, showing opulent fig, melon and honeysuckle flavors that are full-blown and flow easily, with touches of ginger and honey. Complex, intense and persistent. Drink now through 2016.

Contrasting with that is the 2008 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir, which reveals more white peach, nectarine and citrus oil notes as well as a slightly richer, thicker texture, good acidity, slightly higher alcohol (15.3%) and a smaller production of approximately 1,000 cases. This beauty should age nicely for 7-10 years...The Peter Michael Winery is the California outpost of British-born Sir Peter Michael who has shown a Midas touch for selecting brilliant winemakers, including Helen Turley, Mark Aubert, Luc Morle and more recently Luc’s brother, Nicolas.

Greenish gold. Tropical fruits, peach and dusty spices on the nose. Juicy and intensely flavored, with a strong note of toasty lees adding depth to the lively orange and pit fruit flavors. The brisk finish features a refreshingly bitter note of grapefruit pith and clings with very good smoky persistence.
