2007 Frank Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The dense dark plum/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. The fragrant bouquet of blueberries and flowers is followed by admirable complexity, sweet tannins, a medium to full-bodied, graceful mouthfeel and no hard edges. Drink this outstanding Napa Cabernet over the next 15+ years. This ancient winery, established in 1884, resurfaced in 1992. (RP)
A soft and friendly Cab with a nice currant and plum character and hints of chocolate and new oak. Full and round, with great fruit. A little one dimensional on the palate, but very attractive.

Bright purple. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of cherry-vanilla, boysenberry and mocha, with a subtle floral quality emerging with air. Plush, juicy dark fruit flavors show very good depth, with vanilla and violet pastille nuances contributing sweetness. Tannins arrive late and are nicely folded into the fruit on the long, smoky finish. This will drink well soon. (ST)
Dry, dustily tannic and somewhat closed down, this Cabernet clearly wants some time in the cellar. It has rich, juicy blackberry and cherry flavors, but the tannins and acidity close in fast, locking them down and making the wine astringent and tart. Give it a few years, or decant if you're opening it now.
*One Star* Nicely ripened, moderately fruity and leaning just enough to red cherries to faintly hint at Merlot, this supple, nicely structured effort comfortably marries temperate oak and juicy young fruit in its mid-density flavors. It is not nor ever will be an especially big or dramatic wine, but it gets the nod by dint of its focus and will improve for a few years.
Wine & Spirits
Dark and ripe, this is a gentle, peppery Cabernet with honeyed sweetness to balance the bitter blackness of its tannin. For braised beef.
The 2007 Frank Family Vineyard’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep purple color. The aromas are brimming with sweet blackberries, Tahitian vanilla, chocolate-dusted espresso beans and spiced cake with raspberry coulis. As further layers emerge, notes of aniseed, sage browned butter and cigar box come forward. The palate is profuse and lively bursting with juicy cherries, blackberry pie topped with cardamom ice cream and fresh-brewed coffee with a touch of cinnamon. These classic aromas are harmoniously balanced by a well structured mouthfeel of velvety tannins that are wonderfully polished yet youthful with lasting grip.
