2009 Unti Vineyards "Cuvee Blanc" Dry Creek Rhone Blend
In 2004, Unti planted an experimental block (only 800 vines) of Grenache Blanc, Picpoul and Vermentino, varietals that are grown in the sunny climate of Provence. The wise folks at Unti figured that if the Dry Creek Valley's climate worked with such red Rhone varietals as Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, it would probably be swell for some of the whites, too. 2007 was the first harvest from this block, and Unti's hunch was soon backed by a pure, clean and delicious result. In this new vintage, a mineral character along with apple/pear fruit and laser-like acidity characterizes this wine. It's aged in older, neutral French oak. Very little made, so get yours now!
