2007 Flora Springs "Hillside Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Reserve, from a vineyard planted in Rutherford’s famed red soils, is a classic Rutherford Bench wine with exceptional concentration as well as depth. Brambleberry, cassis, black cherry, spice box, and cedar notes are accompanied by superb, full-bodied flavors, exceptional polished, refined tannins, and a finish that lasts nearly 45 seconds. It can be drunk now or cellared for 25 or more years.
*Cellar Selection* An amazingly rich, complex and ageworthy wine. Made from 100% Cabernet grapes, it shows firm, plush flavors of blackberries and black currants, with a sour cherry candy tartness that's clean and piquant in the mouth. But the wine is also very tannic, giving a dry astringency through the finish. Should reward time in the cellar. best 2012-2018.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Good bright ruby-red. Brooding aromas of plum, mocha and chocolatey oak. Plump and sweet but less expressive and nuanced than the Holy Smoke bottling. Today the wine's chocolate and cedary oak elements give it a slightly chunky texture. Finishes with chocolatey, youthfully clenched tannins. This Cabernet from a Rutherford Bench vineyard will need a couple years to come into focus.
