 Soleil, from the backwater satellite appellation of Puisseguin St. Emilion, has turned out a soft, round, consumer-friendly 2009 with lots of strawberry and black cherry fruit as well as hints of underbrush and cedar. It is a sexy, full-throttle, silky smooth wine to drink over the next 3-4 years. The final blend was 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the consultant here is Stefan von Neipperg.  (2/2012)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

 (80% merlot with 10% each cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc): Good full ruby-red. Black cherry, minerals and tobacco on the nose, plus a whiff of tobacco. Lush and sweet but also energetic, with an intriguing element of saline minerality giving lift to the middle palate. Expressive already: the sweet tannins and integrated acidity will not get in the way of enjoying this persistent wine right now. Showed a touch of finishing greenness with air but displays good lift.  (7/2012)

This wine is decidedly modern but in a good way more hedonistic than harlot. There is a ton of wine here for only $22..... the nose is filled with wood spice, coffee and dark heady black fruit. The rich black fruit dominates the palate with a soft luxurious mid-palate finishing with some astringency. Rich and silky!

Tasted in August of 2012 from bottle. Blackish color. Tons of ripe blackberry aromas mixed with toasty vanilla oak. Superb structure and a lingering finish.
