2008 J. Heinrich Blaufränkisch (Previously $14)

SKU #1050957

Fresh and fruity from the new 2008 vintage, this Blaufrankisch represents the best everyday drinking wine from Burgenland's top winery J.Heinrich. A very typical, juicy Blaufrankisch, it can be chilled slightly in summer time. Great with any of BBQ, pastas and pizzas. According to Wine Enthusiast: "A wine that is soft, open, light and fruity. Blackberry flavors are dominant, with attractive acidity floating through the gentle palate. Spice adds final interest." (03/10)

Nice wine to be served cool, with flavor profile of cherries and a touch of kirsh, gentle and very easy drinking. This will be nice to serve on parties, for cocktail or with light fares.

- Austria is a well-respected wine-growing region in Europe. Yet, even though they make about a third the volume of wine as Germany, not many of these fine bottles make it to the shelves of American wine merchants or restaurants. Lucky for us, their anonymity has translated into incredible value from simple, everyday whites to exquisite dessert wines. Austria shares many grape varieties with Germany—Riesling is king here, too. But the style of Austrian whites is much dryer and more potent. Grüner Veltliner is Austria's second-most-important varietal and makes whites of great versatility and pleasure. Click for a list of bestselling items from Austria.
