2008 Domaine de Guillemarine Picpoul de Pinet

SKU #1049369

Picpoul de Pinet is considered the "Muscadet" of the south. Grown just meters from the oyster beds of the Bassin de Thau, the wine marries perfectly with fish and shellfish. Picpoul (also known as Folle Blanche or Gros Plant) means "lip stinger," which refers to the high acidity of its must. Great with oysters and seafood. This wine is crisp, but quite long and full with nice floral and mineral notes in the nose. Bracing acidity backs up a wine with surprising breed for this price point. 13.5% abv.

This wine is summer in a bottle! Fun, fresh, zesty and clean, its everything you want in a wine while sitting outside on a nice hot summer day. The perfect accompaniment to a plate of oysters or a poolside BBQ, this Picpoul is the perfect sidekick for the summer.

A true blue Picpoul!! Bursting with flavor. Tangerine, orange flowers and definitely "tingling" on the lips (after all "picpoul" means lip-stinger!). This will be absolutely perfect with all seafood dishes, mild chicken curry, Chinese food, light lamb dishes, pasta with clam sauce, and let's not forget... bouillabaisse!!

This is a great wine, especially for summer, but good enought for anytime a clean and crisp wine is called for. The Guillemarine Picpoul has nice bright fruit at first and ends up with a nice crisp finish that is both pleasant and gives the wine some balance. This Picpoul will go with almost any light foods and alone. I would like to try it with appitizers from the Mediterrian region.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this Picpoul de Pinet ever since I tasted it in France earlier this year. Its light, fresh, super zippy characteristics remind me of warm weather, sandals and sprinklers. Picpoul is otherwise known as "lip stinger" and the Guillemarine is certainly bitey, but in a delicious way! Enjoy a glass at the end of a long day, at the dinner table with grilled fish or salads, or at your next pool party!

Light, fresh, delicious! Juicy green apple fruit flavors, zippy acidity, and a nice tangy finish makes this summer white a perfect accompaniment to just about anything. Buy in bulk and party!
