Appleton Estate Extra 12 year old Jamaican Rum 750ml
*Top 50 Spirits of 2012* Hailing from Jamaica, this smooth 12-year-old rum features a sticky dark-toffee aroma accented by almond and peach notes. On the palate, look for a nice rounded caramel flavor that flashes lots of clove and cinnamon tones on the finish.
Since 1749, Appleton Estate has been located in the Nassau Valley of Jamaica, where they grow varieties of sugar cane specially suited to their rum-making. With their unique and custom-made copper stills, proprietary yeast culture, and soft water from a limestone spring on the property, Appleton's rums are unique and terroir-driven. Aged in used American whiskey barrels, Appleton ages every cask for this bottling for a minimum of 12 years in the tradition of the traditional English laws. Like a fine X.O. Cognac, it is excellent for sipping neat or with a splash of water. From Appleton: "Dark mahogany hue, bold character and soft elegant flavor of orange peel, vanilla, toasted oak and a hint of almond."
