Tarlant QV Discobitch Champagne

SKU #1046337

This is declassified Cuvee Louis (Tarlant's top of the line cuvée) that was made for a French pop band by the name of Discobitch. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Luckily, the bubbly is anything but strange, and what a value. Discobitch is a blend of 1/3 Chardonnay, 1/3 Pinot Meunier and 1/3 Pinot Noir made from 2005 reserve wine. First fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel vats and aged in oak barrels. Dosage is 6 g/l Brut. Bottling was done in May 2006. In this Cuvee we find the freshness of Chardonnay and the richness of the Pinot. The texture is supple and elegant. It is fresh and crisp with some buttery and brioche notes. Bitchin' for parties.

It was love at first site (and sip). As a fan of anything disco or sparkling, when a six pack of this sequin-embellished, sparkling goodness first appeared stateside in 2009, Gary Westby pulled me aside to make sure I could have first dibs. Which I did. Not only does it make you want to party by just looking at it, but it's damn good Champagne - rich, intense and mouthfilling, with creamy layers and a wonderful toasty finish. One of my favorite K&L direct import grower-producer houses Champagne Tarlant has produced a small amount of Discobitch since 2009 as a tribute to the French electro-pop group of the same name whose hit single "C'Est Beau La Bourgeoisie" rocked the charts that year France. It's been my New Years, birthday, and any other festive celebration go-to ever since. Extremely limited in supply.
