According to Wine Spectator: "Very crisp, with red cherry flavors and plenty of smoky notes. The minerally finish has touches of dried berry on the tannic finish. Drink now through 2010. 3,000 cases made." (Web Only, 2009)

I bought this to help me prepare for my WSET test. A blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Jaen, the wine has a very distinctive port-like nose, with traces of anise and baking spice. The body is noticeably tannic and with more port-like flavor, but without the sweetness. A very interesting wine for a very reasonable price that will go with most meat dishes.

Big, rustic, Dao wine. The way it should be. Juicy fruit, chewy tannins and full of character.

- Although quite small, Portugal produces a great variety of wines ranging from light and fizzy Vinho Verde to hearty and tannic Port. Portugal is Europe's fourth-largest wine-producing region, and has been exporting its wine since the 14th century. The Douro Valley of Portugal is the original and current home for the world's finest Port. The valley spans from east of the city of Oporto all the way to the border of Spain and is the country's best known wine region. Lesser-appreciated DOCs like Bairrada and Dão area also emerging for their fine, rustic reds. Click for a list of bestselling items from Portugal.
