Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is gorgeous. It is a soft, caressing wine laced with expressive dark fruit, blackberries, spices, leather and flowers, all of which come together beautifully in the glass. This is a surprisingly soft, open young wine with lovely inner perfume and a mid-weight structure that makes it approachable, even today. It is a great starting point for readers who are new to the Dunn wines. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025.

Bright ruby-red. Wild, inviting aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, pepper, spices and game. Sweet but not particularly fleshy, offering a juicy character to the flavors of crushed berries, pepper and spices. Nicely suave cabernet with a firm edge of acidity and ripe, building tannins.

K&L Notes
Looking back at the years of stellar reviews of Dunn Napa Valley and Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons, it comes as no surprise that the 2005 would be this good. Notoriously big (I think one review from Robert Parker said: "If Godzilla drank California Cabernet Sauvignon, would there be any doubt as to what choice it would be?") the exceptional 2005 is a wine for your cellar: structured, concentrated and built to last. And while the wine is not inexpensive, the Dunns have resisted the trend of astronomical pricing common among top-notch Napa producers. They don't make much wine, though, so move quickly if you want to secure some of our allocation.
