2006 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien (3L) (Pre-Arrival)
92-94 points Robert Parker: "Proprietor Patrick Maroteaux continues to ratchet up the quality level at this impeccably run St.-Julien estate. The 2006 is similar to the 1996 Branaire, but with sweeter fruit. A deep ruby/purple hue precedes a perfumed nose of sweet boysenberries, black cherries, minerals, spring flowers, and a hint of pain grille in the background. Fresh, savory, medium to full-bodied flavors coat the palate with beautiful purity, no hard edges, ripe tannin, and intense fruit. This elegant, layered, impressive offering will be at its peak between 2012-2025." (04/07) 89-91 points Wine Spectator: "Very solid, with good fruit and a complete core of ripe tannins..." (03/07) K&L's notes - 67% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot, 2% cabernet franc, 4% petit verdot. Slightly less production than the small crop of 2005-about 20% less than normal crop. 44 htl/htr. At property-black cherry aromas and red fruit flavors. Round tannins-rich wine. Very nice. At Joanne-very bright red fruits on nose. Elegant-fine. Integrated tannins. Could be a value. At UGC-good rich palate entry. Good depth and length. *1/2 Ralph Sands: Pretty high toned raspberry/cherry fruit, and it is very pure. Only knock is a bit of a short finish. Alex Brisoux: Sweet red fruit, soft, sexy, lush wine, balanced tannins, very elegant, opens up well. Please note - 2006 Bordeaux futures are not in stock, but will arrive between Jan 2009 and Dec 2009. We will contact you for shipping instructions.
