2006 Palmer, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)
94 points Wine Enthusiast! 93 points Wine Spectator: "Coffee, plum and spices on the nose follow through to a full body, with lovely fruit and a soft, silky-textured finish. Very balanced and beautiful, with lots of violet, new wood and richness. Long. Needs time. Best after 2015." (03/09) 92 points Robert Parker: "The dense ruby/purple-hued 2006 Palmer reveals sweet aromas of melted licorice, underbrush, toast, plums, and black cherries. Outstanding density, a medium to full-bodied style, and a personality that recalls 1996, this blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot possesses moderately high tannins as well as plenty of aging potential. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028." K&L's notes - 56% cabernet sauvignon, 44% merlot and no petit verdot this year. Only 37 htl/htr. Only 8,000 cases made-less than 2005. Lots of violet on the nose with undertones of cigar box and vanilla oak. Not in league with 2005, but lots of finesse and elegance. This is an elegant Palmer with classic undertones. Like 2004 with more finesse and ripeness. ** RS: Very classic in every way. The dark concentrated fruit has hints of roses/violets and cassis, nice tannins, no question very elegant, long finishing wine. Please note - 2006 Bordeaux futures are not in stock, but will arrive between Jan 2009 and Dec 2009. We will contact you for shipping instructions.
