2006 Margaux, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)
95-100 points Wine Spectator: "Very powerful and rich. Fantastic. Full, silky and structured. Yet layered and rich, with loads of mineral, violet and coffee character. Incredible. So much finesse in the nose. What a wine. Similar to the 1995, which received 100 points." (03/07) 93-95 points Robert Parker: "The strictest selection ever instituted at this estate resulted in only 36% of the crop being utilized for the blend of 2006 Chateau Margaux. Composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, it is similar to the 1996, but with sweeter, more seductive fruit in the nose. A big, tannic, dense effort displaying terrific purity, power, elegance, and a distinctive mineral/flower component, it is a medium to full-bodied wine of great nobility that should be at its finest between 2017-2050+." (04/07) K&L's notes - 90% cabernet sauvignon, 4% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Piney aromas and quite a bit of spice upfront. Very big on the palate, yet silky and elegant. Seems integrated but a bit reserved today. Fresh wine that should be great-not up to the 2005. **+ Ralph Sands: A fine expression of high-toned, pure fruit, strong and focused, again not as opulent as some recent releases and finishes a bit dryer than usual, good spice on the finish. Still very fine. Please note - 2006 Bordeaux futures are not in stock, but will arrive between Jan 2009 and Dec 2009. We will contact you for shipping instructions.
