2015 Malat Berg "Furth-Palt" Grüner Veltliner Kremstal
Review Date: 11-30-2016
This is a whole lotta wine for $18! Wonderfully balanced between elegance and textural weight. Juicy citrus, sweet apple along with fresh herbs and spice. For so much palate intensity this really has an airy, dancing lift to it. The outright quality of this wine can't be denied...

2015 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett Mosel (Saar)
Review Date: 11-29-2016
Not sure how or why, but this wine is so far and above the others it is mind-boggling. The complexity and intensity of aromas and flavors is something of legend. This has fantastic weight without being heavy. In fact, it is almost ethereal on the palate. Freshness, spice, intense core of textural fruit, bright minerals that are layered up, down and all around, and a length that can’t be beat. This is a definite cellar candidate and should be put away for at least 10–15 years or even 20-plus. Can only truly describe this wine in two words: brilliant and stunning.

2015 Claude Riffault "Les Boucauds" Sancerre
Review Date: 11-28-2016
It is because of producers like this that makers of Sauvignon Blanc from around the world look up to Sancerre. The domaine has been family owned and run for five generations and is now in the hands of Claude's son, Stéphane. The Les Boucauds is a selection of 30-50 year-old hand-harvested vines that are grown on clay-limestone hillsides and vinified in stainless steel. With its taut minerality, layers of salty white fruits and spring herbs, this is a quintessential style of Sancerre.

2015 Schmelz Steinriegl Riesling Smaragd Wachau
Review Date: 11-08-2016
WOWZA! What a crazy combination of open knit stone fruit, spicy pears and rich mineral. The nose is open and seductive thanks to the wonderful 2015 vintage. The palate is still a bit tight and shy but you can feel the layers of texture right from the beginning and through the very end. Juicy and lengthy on the finish.

2015 Schmelz Wachauer Terrassen Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Wachau
Review Date: 11-08-2016
Wachau Grüner for under $20? Wait, Wachau Grüner for $15!!! This is a rare find indeed. But, thanks to our DI program we were able to make it happen. The 2015 vintage was a killer for the Wachau and this wine shows it. Fantastic density while retaining a pure expression of clean snappy fruit. As the name suggests, this comes from terraced vineyards around the estate. Wonderfully light in color with aromatics which jump out of the glass and wonderfully fresh and energetic on the palate. Drink now and over the next handful of years.

2015 Schmelz Stein am Rain Riesling Federspiel Wachau
Review Date: 11-08-2016
Wonderfully light and airy on the nose showing nice subtle mineral depth and just ripened pear and white flowers. Lighter bodied with a dancing feel which plays on the palate a bit before showing off the texture and length of the vintage.

2014 Müller-Grossman Steiner Point Riesling Kremstal
Review Date: 10-28-2016
A perfect example of why Riesling is considered such an amazing varietal. Rich, fleshy fruit textures along with inherent backing acidity which provides balance and structure. This little gem is drinking so nice at the moment and will continue to evolve over many years. Not to mention this is a fantastic example why Kremstal is one of my favorite Riesling growing regions in Austria.

2015 Franck Millet "Insolite" Sancerre
Review Date: 10-24-2016
I'm really liking the depth of which the 2015 vintage brought to this wine. The aromatic is bright with citrus but also carries a fleshy tropical note to it. This wine of course has the inherent chalky minerality on the palate. But, it also has nice weight and balance from start to finish. The warmth of 2015 also added a soft waxy component which I find quite intriguing and really extends on the finish. Very well done wine...

2014 Leitz Spätburgunder Weissherbst (Rosé) Sekt Rheingau
Review Date: 08-15-2016
Brought to you by the ever emerging and evolving legend that is Johannes Leitz this sparkling Pinot Noir carries a lot of the same qualities of the still rosé but brought to a new level. Fresh cranberry, white flowers and textural summer red fruits all over the nose and palate here. With a perfectly matched bubble, subdued but present minerality and lasting finish this wine could just change the way you look at other sparkling rosés.

Thank goodness this has finally arrived! This is now officially my summertime, party time, have around the house at all times wine. Bright with spiced flowers white fruits and just enough minerality and acidity to satisfy a fanatic like myself. Super clean and fresh throughout with hints of sweet fruit adding a balancing textural component to the palate.

2014 Domaine de la Taille Aux Loups (Jacky Blot) "Clos de Mosny" Montlouis Sur Loire
Review Date: 08-03-2016
The aromatic on this screams, "here I am, I'm an awesome Chenin". The concentration from the nose to the finish is absolutely fantastic. There is a textural density that only Chenin can achieve when done by a top notch grower/winemaker. And the the precision and intensity drive through and create something really special. This is a cellar keeper or decant in the morning to enjoy in the evening.

2014 Domaine de la Butte (Jacky Blot) "Mi-Pente" Bourgueil
Review Date: 08-03-2016
Really good concentration of dark berry fruit with a wound up middle and a tannin structure which is almost chewy. This is a well integrated and balanced Cab Franc which would love to be decanted for a good two hours, at least. Also comes along with an extremely fresh and juicy finish.

2015 Sigalas "Aa" (Assyrtiko/Athiri) Santorini
Review Date: 08-02-2016
A very bright aromatic of rich citrus and that one of a kind volcanic minerality, which can only be found on Santorini, gives this wine a refreshing character from start to finish. Plenty of juiciness on the palate with expressive length and a happy finish that has verve and identity. This has a certain restraint that can only come from a true master of their craft. Drink nice and chilled on its own or, with chilled fresh fruits and veggies. A killer with fish dishes too!

2015 Claude Riffault "La Noue" Sancerre Rosé
Review Date: 07-06-2016
Zippy red fruit concentration with wafts of mineral and spice and the color is beautiful. This is a serious rosé that carries complexity and depth of character. Definitely fresh and bright — this is a style and quality that should be paid attention to, as it is setting the bar quite high for others to reach for.

2014 Hugel "Gentil" Alsace

This is the type of friend you want after a really bad day or, after a really fantastic day, too. It has all of the characters you like to lean on in times of frustration and in times of joy. Bright and full of life but down to earth with a good core of character. This is for a sure a wine for which any excuse can be made to pop a bottle and have multiple glasses... bottles... whatever...

2012 Nicolas Idiart Blanc de Blanc Brut
Review Date: 07-05-2016
I really enjoy how the Chardonnay and Folle Blanche play off each other. The richness of the Chard really shines up front giving the wine character and body while the Folle Blanche keeps everything in a straight line with a nice crispy finish.

2014 Domaine de la Noblaie "Le Temps des Cerises" Chinon
Review Date: 06-14-2016
One of the cleanest purest versions of Cabernet Franc which truly defines what this varietal is all about. Spicy fruit layers with a bright middle core and integrated tannins on the finish which give it a nice finishing longevity. This wine is extremely undervalued at this price.

2013 Henri Bourgeois "Jadis" Sancerre
Review Date: 03-24-2016
I love how this wine plays the part of not only a structured powerhouse but also tempting seductress. The aromatic plays the part of the seductress as it lures you in with pristine aromas of perfectly ripe citrus, green melon and a minerality that makes you stop, think and then sucks you back in for another whiff. There is a concentrated and wound up structure which runs up and down and all around the palate. There is a very clear and ever present focus and drive to this wine from front and all the way through the back. As it is open it really starts to flesh out on the middle and shows you yet another dimension of its flirty character. Even though from different regions and even different grapes this wine really reminds me of Grand Cru Champagne. Probably because of its clean feminine aromatic which is matched by its concentrated, racy mineral palate character. Bottom line, this wine is a killer!

2014 Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc
Review Date: 12-02-2015
Crispy, fresh, vibrant and what I call a benchmark style of Sancerre. This is a keep in the fridge at all times kind of wine. Bright with some citrus notes running through and of course, the classic limestone minerality. Great as an aperitif and/or with a fresh summer salad sprinkled with goat cheese. I really enjoy the freshness of this wine.

2013 Clos de l'Elu "Ephata" Anjou Blanc
Review Date: 09-30-2015
Fantastic tight concentration with a great focus. The palate is a little wound up and tight but opens up with decanting. Or, better yet, a few years in the cellar. There is a very savory and textural component which makes your mouth water and is enhanced by the salty minerality on the finish. Excellent wine!

2013 Damien Laureau "Les Petites Roche" Savennières
Review Date: 06-08-2015
Savennières grows the Chenin Blanc grape, the wine is in short supply, and has been described as more "cerebral" than Vouvray. Pop that cork mindfully, and enjoy - this is from a solid producer better known for his "Les Genets" and "Le Bel Ouvrage" bottlings.

Charles Baur Cremant d'Alsace Brut Rosé
Review Date: 12-04-2014
How can you go wrong with a rosé sparkler — especially under $20? Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this is jam-packed with crunchy red fruits and spicy strawberry sweetness. Delightful on its own, as an aperitif, with a first course salad, or with a plate of cheese and a hearty loaf of fresh-baked bread. The label should say "A Happy Rosé"
