2015 Claude Riffault "La Noue" Sancerre Rosé
Review Date: 07-06-2016
Zippy red fruit concentration with wafts of mineral and spice and the color is beautiful. This is a serious rosé that carries complexity and depth of character. Definitely fresh and bright — this is a style and quality that should be paid attention to, as it is setting the bar quite high for others to reach for.

2014 Zahel "Orange T" Orangetraube Wien

For a little known-grape that, for some reason gets no respect, I sure do drink a lot of this. So fresh, so clean, so... another empty bottle for the recycle bin.

2014 Hugel "Gentil" Alsace
Review Date: 07-06-2016
This is the type of friend you want after a really bad day or, after a really fantastic day, too. It has all of the characters you like to lean on in times of frustration and in times of joy. Bright and full of life but down to earth with a good core of character. This is for a sure a wine for which any excuse can be made to pop a bottle and have multiple glasses... bottles... whatever...

2012 Nicolas Idiart Blanc de Blanc Brut
Review Date: 07-05-2016
I really enjoy how the Chardonnay and Folle Blanche play off each other. The richness of the Chard really shines up front giving the wine character and body while the Folle Blanche keeps everything in a straight line with a nice crispy finish.

2015 Nicolas Idiart Sauvignon Blanc Touraine

A touch tropical with fantastic Loire mineral cut to balance everything out. Good juicy core of fruit with a bright finish. Fir being so inexpensive this sure is tasty!

2015 Le Coeur de la Reine Gamay Touraine
Review Date: 07-05-2016
Lots of spicy red fruits like strawberries and raspberries bounce out of the glass. Lighter bodied this is a refreshing style of red which is fresh and fun to drink. Try it with just a slight chill on it.

Charles Baur "Emotion" Cremant d'Alsace Brut
Review Date: 06-15-2016
I really could have used this wine in my life a few parties ago - could have served the same quality of wine for a fraction of the price. The fruit characters in here are fantastic and has an appeal which nobody can deny.

2014 Domaine de la Noblaie "Le Temps des Cerises" Chinon
Review Date: 06-14-2016
One of the cleanest purest versions of Cabernet Franc which truly defines what this varietal is all about. Spicy fruit layers with a bright middle core and integrated tannins on the finish which give it a nice finishing longevity. This wine is extremely undervalued at this price.

2015 Leitz Pinot Noir Rosé Rheingau
Review Date: 06-14-2016
This is the wine that defines my love for rose! So much freshness and energy but all the while being addictively easy to gulp right on down. Mr. Leitz really knocked this one out of the park...

2014 Eric Cottat Sancerre Rouge
Review Date: 06-14-2016
I love this wine purely for the fact that it is not like so many of the now typical styles of Pinot out there. This is bright, pure, fresh on the palate. This isn't one of those big sappy reds which is tiresome and makes you want to crawl under a blanket. Some really good energy in this wine.

2015 Cave du Vendomois Lieu-Dit Cocagne Coteaux du Vendomois Rosé

I love the spice that this wine gives off aromatically. Lighter bodied on the palate with good spicy fruit on the finish. Mouthwatering, fresh and fun to enjoy.

2015 Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon Rosé
Review Date: 06-14-2016
Nice full red fruit richness and spice along with a balanced texture on the palate. I would suggest sitting outdoors having an early evening meal and sipping this through the night. Superb with a green salad with crispy lardons and a fried egg - trust me!

2009 Trimbach "Cuvée Frédéric Émile" Riesling Alsace
Review Date: 04-06-2016
Where to start with this one? How about from the top, IT'S REALLY TASTY WINE! Believe it or not this is still showing an amazing amount of youthfulness and energy. In fact, I'd still call it a baby of a wine. Loads of bright citrus, fleshy stone fruit and spice up and down and all around. A real showcase of what amazing Riesling is all about...

2012 Château de Brézé Clos de la Rue Saumur Blanc
Review Date: 03-24-2016
I am falling in love with this producer's wines. This is a serious bottling of beautiful Chenin Blanc. Amazing texture of fruit with a graceful power that guides along the palate. This is a stunner!

2013 Henri Bourgeois "Jadis" Sancerre
Review Date: 03-24-2016
I love how this wine plays the part of not only a structured powerhouse but also tempting seductress. The aromatic plays the part of the seductress as it lures you in with pristine aromas of perfectly ripe citrus, green melon and a minerality that makes you stop, think and then sucks you back in for another whiff. There is a concentrated and wound up structure which runs up and down and all around the palate. There is a very clear and ever present focus and drive to this wine from front and all the way through the back. As it is open it really starts to flesh out on the middle and shows you yet another dimension of its flirty character. Even though from different regions and even different grapes this wine really reminds me of Grand Cru Champagne. Probably because of its clean feminine aromatic which is matched by its concentrated, racy mineral palate character. Bottom line, this wine is a killer!

Huber "Hugo" Sparkling Rosé

I really enjoy the interplay of the two varietals here, Pinot Noir and Zweigelt. While the Pinot lends elegance and finesse the Zweigelt adds textural richness and spice. Such a fun wine...

2014 Patient Cottat "Le Grand Caillou" Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 12-02-2015
One of my go-to grab bottles when I need something crisp and crowd-friendly. Has all of the qualities that a wine guy like me looks for in a wine, but, without being overly geeky or cerebral. Clean, fresh and inviting is what you’ll be getting in this wine. Yes, it’s a great deal, but even more so, it is a fantastic wine.

2014 GRÜNER by Etz Grüner Veltliner Kamptal (1L)
Review Date: 12-02-2015
I’ve never been shy about my passion for wines in the-- what I think is optimum--liter format. This wine is so well put together and fantastic to drink. If you think only “cheap,” poorly made wines are in liter bottles, you will be shocked at the quality within. Try it with grilled vegetable with a side of pork apple sausage. I have also been known to add about 30% sparkling water to my glass and enjoy as a nice refreshment from doing yard work...

2014 Franck Millet "Insolite" Sancerre

It has been an absolute pleasure having the opportunity to watch this wine progress over the last 17 years. The 2014 is mouthwatering fresh and vibrant with a textural core and rounded mineral finish. I think that this just may be their finest yet. This will also improve over the next few years...

Deligeroy Cremant de Loire Brut
Review Date: 12-02-2015

2013 Clos de l'Elu "Ephata" Anjou Blanc
Review Date: 09-30-2015
Fantastic tight concentration with a great focus. The palate is a little wound up and tight but opens up with decanting. Or, better yet, a few years in the cellar. There is a very savory and textural component which makes your mouth water and is enhanced by the salty minerality on the finish. Excellent wine!

2002 Pierre et Catherine Breton "Les Perrières" Bourgueil
Review Date: 09-30-2015
A fantastic vintage for the region. And, a fantastic vintage for Cab Franc, the best red wine grape known to man. This is just starting to drink spot on - still could use a good 30+ minutes in a decanter. Try it with some simple grilled lamb chops.

2013 Damien Laureau "Les Petites Roche" Savennières
Review Date: 06-08-2015
Savennières grows the Chenin Blanc grape, the wine is in short supply, and has been described as more "cerebral" than Vouvray. Pop that cork mindfully, and enjoy - this is from a solid producer better known for his "Les Genets" and "Le Bel Ouvrage" bottlings.
