2015 Hahn "SLH" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
Review Date: 06-15-2017
I have never stocked a single wine more than the 2014 Hahn Pinot Noir during the Oct-Dec months last year. It was a huge customer favorite that we could not get enough of! The scores are in again for this fantastic 2015 vintage and the wine is sure to be another hit. Ripe raspberry and cherry fruits with a hit of baking spice and oak on the finish that will once again fill the $20 to $30, crowd-pleasing Pinot Noir space that is getting harder to find each year.

Perfumey, fresh red berry fruits abound, with rose petal and savory background notes. Great freshness and tension again, with wet stone and medium tanin to wrap it up. Definitely young at tasting (3/15) and will need a few more months to open up. Always a fantastic deal!

2015 Beckmen Vineyard "Estate" Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 06-05-2017
This is the best cab from here in quite some time, and may have been the wine of the day for the group! From gravely soils in Santa Ynez Valley comes this delicious central coast Cabernet. Unmistakably Cab on the nose, with red cherry and blackberry fruits, mocha, and wet stone, which continues to a gravely minerality on the palate. Powerful wine with big fruit and broad tanin, but extremely well balanced.

2015 Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Review Date: 06-05-2017
The team at Banshee has exceeded all expectations yet again for their Sonoma County Pinot Noir! How they are able to add more high quality sites each vintage, yet keep the price under $25, is a feat itself, but means nothing if the wine isn't good. This 2015 is beautiful, with less forward ripe fruit than past vintages, instead showing a prettier, floral and spicy side of coastal Pinot Noir.

2015 Au Bon Climat/K&L Wine Merchants "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 05-16-2017
After tasting the 2015 K&L Bien Nacido Pinot Noir, I was lucky enough to participate in the blending trials for the 2016. We tasted through ten samples of high quality juice from different single blocks around the Bien Nacido vineyard before picking the final blend. Many of these samples would, and do, shine as single vineyard offerings in the $50+ range. It was a treat to see all the work that goes into tweaking the sample percentages until it tastes just right! For this 2015 vintage, Bryan and crew narrowed down to a blend of the three blocks listed below to offer a single vineyard Pinot Noir selection for $30! Vibrant cherry and strawberry fruits, wild herbs, and earth shine. I am still drinking though my 2013's, which still haven't peaked but are still absolutely delicious, and I believe this vintage is even better ad will be enjoyed over the next decade!

This Gruner Veltliner, sourced from Kick On and Sebastiano vineyard sites, is always one of the first Tatomer wines to disappear from our shelves. It is very aromatically intriguing, with stone, tropical, and citrus fruits and sneaking through, along with lavender and honeyed notes. Cain "Cuvée NV12" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Review Date: 04-05-2017
From one of our favorite Spring Mountain producers comes this non vintage bordeaux blend. Consisting of two vintages and six different grapes, half on the valley floor and half on spring mountain, this wine is crafted to fit right in at steak and claret night, but could even moonlight during a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hour! It has more of an old school napa edge to it; the dark fruit is restrained, not big and juicy, there are earthy and nicely integrated, not overt, oak qualities to it, along with acidity and fine, black tea tannin to wrap it all up. It is a well balanced throwback that will do wonders on your dinner table this weekend!

2013 Fuenteseca Huerta Singular "El Maguey" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Review Date: 02-05-2017
Hot damn, Enrique Fonseca has done it again! The brains behind the majority of our favorite tequilas over the past few years is pushing the boundaries of the agave spirit once more. The intrigue behind his products started with the ArteNom selections in 2011, and grew substantially with the first Fuenteseca release; a blend of up to 21 year old tequila's that I never thought would be topped. Well, today I had a sip of the new Fuenteseca Blanco Singular release, and now I have at least a tie between my two favorite tequila's ever, and from a Blanco no less (I will be revisiting the last few drops of that 21 YO blend tonight, for science)! Do yourself a favor and read the full write up David did for the blog and email, then don't hesitate to buy a bottle and enjoy this piece of history in the making. It is a pure expression of the best Agave Jalisco has to offer, and it is an expressive, structured, magical liquid.

This is the "quintessential California" profile that so many Chardonnay drinkers prefer, but at under $18 and in a truly well-made style! It has the "buttery" profile, but with nice acidity to keep it from crossing into the "too heavy" territory; oak integration that doesn't overwhelm, and the classic tropical fruit notes that shine, all working in a well-balanced harmony. 2014 Wines Of Substance Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 05-19-2016
Looking back at my notes from the 2013 WOS Cabernet and this new 2014 vintage, the same sentence stood out: "How the hell is this (still) $15?!" Washington has long passed Napa and Sonoma for having the most consistent bang-for-your-buck Cab/Syrah/Merlot wines in the $10-$30 price range, but this offering is just ridiculous. A big and powerful wine overall, this 2014 WOS shows plenty of dark berry and currant fruit, with a smattering spice and toasty French Oak.
