2012 Banshee "Marine Layer" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 04-14-2015
The Marine Layer bottling from Banshee is made up of a blend of "lighter, ethereal" barrels of single vineyards around greater Sonoma. The nose is full of fresh picked red berries with light spice and wet stone qualities. The palate continues with pretty red cherry and cranberry fruit, with earthen minerality and salinity. As mentioned, this Pinot really opens up with a decant and will reward cellar time!

2012 Unti "Cuvée Foudre" Dry Creek Valley Rhône Blend
Review Date: 04-14-2015
The 2012 Cuvee Foudre stole the show for me. This wine is only made during the best Grenache and Mourvedre vintages and the 2012 is the first bottling under the Cuvee Foudre label since 2005! Consisting of the best lots of each varietal, the blend is 40% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, and 30% Syrah. Beautiful aromatics of freshly ground pepper, raspberry and blackberry fruits, licorice and dried herbs abound. The palate is juicy and savory, with great mineral, firm tannins and incredible balance. Give it a couple years to really start showing off!

2012 Unti "Segromigno" Dry Creek Valley Red Blend
Review Date: 04-14-2015
The 2012 Segromigno is Untis homage to the Tuscan town their grandfather Guiseppe was born. The blend is made up of 76 % Sangiovese and 24% Montepulciano (their 2.5 acres planted is more than anyone in Sonoma County). This powerful wine has brooding black cherry, baking spices, mocha, and an earthy component from the Montepulciano. The power is beautifully balanced by fresh fruits and crisp acidity making it approachable in the near term. This wine begs for braised meats or big pastas!

2012 Unti Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 04-14-2015
Their Zinfandel, a long time customer and staff favorite, shows off their philosophy of blending as a true art form in the winemaking process. The 2012 Unti Zinfandel consists of 76% Zinfandel off the Primitivo vineyard planted in 1998, 12% Petite Syrah for color and body, 7% Barbera for acidity, and 5% Syrah. It has rich, bright red raspberry fruit, a touch of pepper spice, great acid, and a mild tanic finish. This Zin is impeccably balanced and while drinking beautifully now, it will reward a few years in the cellar.

2013 Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Review Date: 04-14-2015
With the last couple vintages being tough to beat, the 2013 managed to take the quality up another notch! They continued to source from amazing sites throughout Sonoma County and it really shows. Fresh, pure red fruit, a touch of earth and floral notes, with great acid to keep everything in perfect harmony. It's very hard to find a better Pinot Noir at this price.

2011 Flowers "Sea View Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 04-07-2015
I have taken the Flowers wines for granted for some time now. They consistently sell without us ever having to talk them up, so they weren't always at the forefront when someone asks about taking home a nice Sonoma Coast Pinot. Visiting Flowers really hammered home how wrong I was! This 2011 Sea View Ridge Pinot Noir was stunning: aromatics full of baking spices, cranberry, Bing cherry, and a touch of anise. The palate showed high toned cherry and pomegranate fruit, and well integrated tannins for a lighter bodied style. This wine will reward now and for years to come.

2012 Hirsch "San Andreas Fault" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 04-07-2015
From high atop the Sonoma Coast mountains comes this always incredible 2012 Hirsch S.A. Pinot Noir. It is full of fresh picked wild cherry, baking spices, bright acid, a hint of saline, with great oak integration. This wine will absolutely reward patience in the cellar.

2011 Fromm "La Strada" Pinot Noir Marlborough
Review Date: 04-01-2015
Fromm has been crushing it with their Pinot Noir the last couple vintages! Fresh red fruit and rose petal aromatics, vibrant and spicy mid palate, pure fruit without being rich or cloying, and fine tannins on the finish. Every sip continued to impress with overall vibrancy and balance. Outstanding stuff!

2011 Willowbrook "Altes Vineyard" Sonoma County Syrah
Review Date: 03-30-2015
We don't receive the Willowbrook wines too often, but when we do they never fail to over-deliver! For $10, you are getting pure, delicious Syrah from a great Sonoma Valley site. Bacon fat, cracked black pepper, and a touch of smoke as soon as the cork is pulled. Pure black fruit, rich but not at all sweet, and savory notes with great balance. Dollar for dollar, this may be the best deal in the store right now!

2013 Bench Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 03-02-2015
It's back! The Bench has been a customer favorite over the last couple vintages. Getting great Sonoma fruit at a $20 price tag is tough to do, and this Pinot really delivers. Pure red fruit, cola notes, some baking spice and a well integrated French Oak finish.

2012 Ellero "Pisa Terrace" Pinot Noir Central Otago
Review Date: 03-02-2015
This is a slightly darker fruited Pinot Noir, full of dark raspberry, black cherry and currant, with great spice (30% whole cluster) and floral components. Great acidity keeps the wine fresh and vibrant, while the fine tanin of the finish really lends great depth. This is a complex pinot that is amazing now and will greatly reward a few years of patience!

The Baricci Brunello, as evidenced by the numerous comments below, is a wine the staff always stocks up on! Every vintage Baricci makes consistently fantastic wine. 2007 Clendenen "Le Pip" Santa Maria Valley Nebbiolo
Review Date: 05-20-2014
Domestic Nebbiolo is quite hard to make well; there is a reason we only have two producers! The Le Pip Nebbiolo, full of Bien Naciedo fruit at 1000 ft elevation, is quite the exception! Rich, powerful, and full of tannin (as the varietal is known for), this wine is full of wild cherry, currant, and rose hips. Plenty of structure and depth, with great focus and round tannins, the Pip is a hell of a wine. It is approachable now, but will reward a few more years in the cellar.

2012 Talley Estate Arroyo Grande Chardonnay
Review Date: 04-16-2014
The secret is out: Talley makes incredible wine, and now we can barely keep it on our shelf. Their Chardonnay has been a favorite to sell for parties, weddings, and just about any get-together that needs both a crowd-pleasing wine and a wine that goes the extra mile for the "serious wine drinkers" of the group. Bright apple and mild toast (15% new oak) show on the nose, continuing onto the palate with hints of tropical fruit and mouthwatering acid. Once again, the texture shines in this Chardonnay, which has a creamy palate yet fresh, bright, and clean fruit flavors.

2012 Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Chardonnay

2011 Seven Hills Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 01-14-2014
In 2011, Seven Hills made no reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, instead adding much of that wine to their entry-level Columbia Valley Cabernet. This packs quite a punch for $20. The reserve vineyard wine adds a bit of powerful black fruit, hefty mineral, and darker tannins to the already prevalent plum, raspberry, cocoa and fresh herbs. Fruit-forward, yet focused and well-structured, this is a very strong offering from a superbly consistent winery.
