2015 Centovigne "Della Motta" Rosso
Review Date: 09-11-2016
This rosso is made up of 70% Nebbiolo and a 30% blend of indigenous Croatina and Uva Rara. I opened this one on Sunday night and immediately poured it into a decanter and let it open for an hour. There is plenty of fruit, good acidity, soft tannin structure, some minerality, and a lengthy finish. The combination of blue/dark fruit and the black cherry comes from the Nebbiolo, I also find some tar and roses on the lengthy finish.

2013 Cantina Valle Isarco "Sabiona" Kerner
Review Date: 08-25-2016
Bright & enticing, with aromas of lemon drop, flowers and a hint of spice jump out of the glass. Then pristine and lively on the palate, with laser-like precision to the tropical fruit and white stone fruit flavors. The finish is long and minerally, with a mouthwatering quality thanks to the bright saline character and harmonious acidity.

2015 Maritma "The 4 Old Guys" Sangiovese Toscana
Review Date: 08-16-2016
I just recently poured this at a staff tasting, to remind my colleges what a Super Value this is, sometimes this gets look over because it has been around K & L for many years ( some vintages are better than others) and this 2015 is Rocklin’ . On the palate you will find, black cherries with a touch of earth. In the mouth, the wine is Medium-bodied, with fine concentration, and soft tannins. I give this two thumbs up, a perfect wine for the Burgers or grilled portabella.

2012 Cantine di Ora "Amicone" Rosso Veneto
Review Date: 08-13-2016
Valpolicella has undergone an amazing transformation from the 60s Bolla version with a red-checked tablecloth to the suave and ultra-hip wine region. This wine is a midway point between simple and fresh and the power and size of the Amarone taking the best from both. A wine to drink straight from the bottle, with a straw or with roasted rabbit, or complex pasta dishes.

2015 Domaine Renaud Mâcon-Solutré

A super value Macon Solutre that expresses its uniqueness. This wine is elegant, crisp and well-structured. This 2015 Chardonnay is chalky with a mineral quality. The wine is mouth-filling and full, with a smooth and supple finish.

2015 Cantina Terlano "Terlaner Classico" White Blend Alto Adige
Review Date: 08-04-2016
This blend of three different grape varieties, grown in the classic district of Terlano (South-Tyrol), is as versatile a wine as you'll find from anywhere, and a seriously good value besides. A blend used quite successfully for over 100 years, this cuvee of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel vats offers fruity aromatics with light yeasty notes and a taste that is always harmonious though quite strong on the palate and very persistent.

2013 Felsina Chianti Classico
Review Date: 07-13-2016
From the very user friendly 2013 vintage, this is one of our best values from Tuscany, black cherries, spicy oak, and a touch of earth. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, with fine concentration and a dry finish, with well integrated and soft tannins. Enjoy tonight and over the next couple years.

2010 Felsina "Fontalloro" Toscana
Review Date: 07-13-2016
This 2010 Fontalloro is 100% Sangiovese sourced from few different vineyards and is simply beautiful. The opulent, forward fruit that is typical of the year is present, but a firm sense of structure keeps things from going over the top. If that sounds appealing you’ll love this wine. Dark red fruit, flowers, minerals and spices come together beautifully and with 2010 structure should age very well, tuff to keep your hands off this wine.

2011 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 07-13-2016
This boasts a deep ruby/purple color, lots of black cherries, raspberries, and currants with hints spice, Tuscan dust and minerals. There is a great texture on this full- bodied wine; it has a long, authoritative finish that combines power with elegance. I would drink this over the next couple of years.

2010 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Review Date: 07-06-2016
The wines of Poggio Salvi are rich, ripe, dense and full, but retain their balance and elegance. The 2010 Riserva Brunello is a stellar example of the vintage, and an exceptional bargain at this price. The palate has pretty black cherry fruit with nice earthy, leather, iodine and spicy notes, great structure and good balance of acidity and tannins, and an aftertaste that is incredibly long. Rockin 2010 !

2012 Grattamacco "L'Alberello" Bolgheri Superiore
Review Date: 07-06-2016
The 2012 Grattamacco "L'Alberello" Bolgheri Superiore captures the pure essence of Bolgheri, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. You will find black fruit with leather, tobacco and herbal notes on the dry full-bodied wine. A big Florentine steak will do just fine with this.

2013 Luce Della Vite "Lucente" Toscana
Review Date: 05-26-2016
This is one of my favorite producers from Tuscany. This is their "Super Tuscan" - a very user friendly wine, the blend is Merlot and Sangiovese. Lots of dark skinned fruit with spice, minerals that complete each other on the nose and palate. The wine has pleasantly soft tannins, but good acidity to pull it all together. $20 bucks WooHoo !!!

2013 Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico
Review Date: 05-21-2016
Here is one of our most popular wines from Tuscany! The 2013 reminds me a lot of the 2004 vintage: black cherries, spicy oak, and a touch of earth. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, with fine concentration, with well integrated and soft tannins. Enjoy tonight (needs decanting time, an hour or so) and over the next few years.

Italian bubbles for ten bucks, what did we just step back in time? Nope just another Great bargain wine from K & L! 2010 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 04-08-2016
A spice-driven wine that makes ample room for leather, cola, cedar, pipe tobacco, licorice, dark plum and barnyard notes. There’s an earthy, dusty quality to the mouth that amplifies the wine’s smoothness.

2011 Agostino Bosco "La Serra" Barolo
Review Date: 04-01-2016
This wine brings aromas of dried cherry, and rose’s and on the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle, and a little Langhe dust with a good tannin structure. I love the elegance to this wine, and with all of its varietal purity here, I still might want to decant it for a couple hours or can even age for a couple of years (up to five or six years if you are that patient), and I am thinking it would show best with a wild mushroom risotto or a barbecue tri-tip.

2011 Fratelli Barale Barolo "Cannubi"
Review Date: 03-29-2016
This Barolo Cannubi emerges from the glass with surprising richness and weight. Berries, flowers and spices flow effortlessly from this rich, textured Cannubi. The wine shows quite a bit more depth than is usually the case for a vineyard that tends towards the feminine, but the textural elegance and silkiness on the mid-palate and finish serve to provide a sense of proportion. Fine, elegant tannins frame the close.

2011 Agostino Bosco "Neirane" Barolo
Review Date: 03-29-2016
This wine’s perfume is pure nebbiolo: raspberry fruit and dried rose petals with a touch of tobacco and lots of cedar, bursting with sweet fruit, tar, minerals, displaying outstanding depth and fine overall balance. This wine will drink well now and over the next few years, best with the heartiest meats or stews.

2013 Zaccagnini "Tralcetto" Montepulciano d' Abruzzo Riserva
Review Date: 03-25-2016
I recently showed this for a small consumer tasting and sold four cases in just less than 3 hours and these were people buying quantities of this wine. (Have to do this one more time. Montepulciano the grape has nothing to do with Montepulciano- the Tuscan town.) I gave it two stars**. There are aromas of blackberries, and floral notes; on the palate you will find smoke, wild cherries and minerals, with plenty of dark fruit that carries through to the finish. There is outstanding depth here, not to mention terrific overall balance.

2011 Bersano "Nirvasco" Barolo
Review Date: 03-25-2016
I love this wine and the very user friendly 2011 vintage from Barolo and at such a GREAT price. This is rockin Nebbiolo! of great quality. Beautifully balance; the wine is medium to full bodied, but has richness and extraordinary aromatics (dry rose petals), with a seemingly unending finish. On the palate you will find tobacco, leather, raspberries with touches of anise and walnuts. This wine will drink well over the next five to eight years or so, but you will want to drink this now with friends and family. Buy plenty and stash a few away.

2014 Valle dell'Acate "Il Frappato" Vittoria
Review Date: 01-15-2016
Made from grapes known also as Frappato di Vittoria, this wine is fragrant, fresh and bursting out, intense notes of cherries, blackberry and raspberry. The palate impression is bright and fresh, light but persistent; with small black and red fruits coating the mouth. Wonderful with all cheeses, it is equally at home when served with fish. Give a slight chill.

2014 Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir

2014 Bava Malvasia "Rosetta" Castelnuovo Don Bosco
Review Date: 12-09-2015
A slightly effervescent, extremely aromatic red wine with low alcohol (5.5%). Bava's version shows off an unusual marriage of freshness, weight, and aromatic complexity. Wild red berry fruit is gloriously evident on the nose, along with fascinating hints of blossoms, particularly wisteria and iris. Served well chilled, and buy two—the first bottle empties quickly.

2013 Marangona Lugana 'Tre Campane'
Review Date: 10-16-2015
100% "Turbiana," or Trebbiano di Lugana, grown using a "double arc" cordon in calcareous, mineral-rich clay soil. The grapes are picked by hand into small boxes, pressed as whole clusters, and fermented at low temperature. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged on its fine lees for about 4 months, then bottled early in the following year. No oak or malolactic fermentation. The vines are around 20 years old. Pale straw color; aroma of almonds, herbs, citrus and a touch of apricot; flavors completely consistent, with excellent acidity, fresh and long. I love this as an aperitif, or as a broadly useful table wine (roast chicken, fish...).
