Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur (750ml)
Review Date: 09-16-2013

Luxardo Maraschino is a key ingredient in a handful of classic cocktails but I've always had mixed feelings about it. The tiniest amount can make a cocktail pop but a little more adds a cloying cherry/almond flavor I dislike.
I recently tasted the Luxardo and Leopold's side by side and I found the Leopold's to be superior. The Luxardo is much more syrupy and sweet whereas the Leopold's has a nice balanced sweetness to it. I could even imagine enjoying the Leopold's on it's own. I've been happy to substitute the Leopold's in my personal bar and have noticed at least one craft cocktail bar in SF doing the same.
