2005 Meyer-Näkel Frühburgunder (was $39.99 now $25.99)

SKU #1027118

The Ahr's 2005 harvest commenced a full week earlier than the long-time average and concluded in the middle October. Werner Näkel described the summer weather as average, but pointed out that summer was followed by a beautiful and warm fall. Pinot Noir benefited from warm fall temperatures and the Pinot fruit selected had an excellent natural must weight and was very healthy. To clarify, Frühburgunder is Pinot Noir. More specifically, it is a highly regarded, small-berry mutation of Pinot favored in this part of Germany. This easy to understand Pinot is light and delicate, and spends most of its time in five-year barrels, giving just a hint of oak. Straightforward cherry fruit, clean and bright, and terrific with cheese, meat and fish-based foods.
