The grapes for this wine, prugnolo gentile (a native clone of the sangiovese variety), canaiolo nero and mammolo, just happen to come from the vineyard sites with the best position, soil and climate in the zone. This ideal fruit receives meticulous care during vinification and maturation from the meticulous team at Poliziano, which results in this structured and long-lived, intensely perfumed wine, reminiscent of the richness and warmth of the Tuscan countryside. This Vino Nobile was listed in the most recent issue of the Gambero Rosso Berebene Guide among the "Italian Smart Buys," excellent wines at a reasonable price. Aged for 18 months in oak (1/3 in large barrels and 2/3 in barriques (50% new).
