2003 A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir

SKU #1010086

The 2003 A to Z Pinot Noir is crafted from over twenty different wines selected and blended by A to Z from more sixteen of Oregon's best estates and was composed and bottled in mid July 2004. A multitude of Pinot Noir clones and styles of winemaking are represented as facets in this multidimensional blend. Aged in 100% French Oak for nine months, of which 40% was new, the wine is a great example of the 2003 vintage in Oregon. A beautiful cornucopia of fresh ripe red fruits immediately jumps out from the nose. Sweet dark ripe raspberries, violets, fresh spices, lavender, hints of oak and cassis emerge after the initial blast of fruit. The wine is most obviously very ripe, perfumed, heady and redolent of high-toned notes of bright red fruits. The aromatics herald the wine as an archetypically lush Oregon Pinot Noir.

Additional Information:

Varietal:

Pinot Noir

- The Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in the cooler climate of Burgundy, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne that is used in all of the Côte d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Australia, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success. Here is a list of our bestselling Pinot Noir.
Country:

United States

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world. Sub-Region:

Oregon

- Highly touted for its Pinot Noirs, Oregon is part of the up-and-coming winemaking industry in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Most of Oregon is directly affected by the climate coming off of the Pacific Ocean, giving it mild winters and wet summers. This makes it a difficult place to ripen grapes, but some say that the harder grapes have to struggle, the more complex they will turn out to be. Chardonnay and Pinot Gris are two important and successful grapes grown in Oregon.
