2011 Kalinda Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

This is exactly what I expect out of a Sonoma Pinot Noir: clean bright red fruits with lift along the palate and an elegant yet structured backbone. I’m guessing somebody got in trouble for pricing this at the absurd $19 sticker price, should be more like $25+. From grilled salmon, roasted pork loin to pizza and a winner with vegetarian dishes too, this wine covers all of the bases. One of the best Kalinda wines to date!

2011 Bollig Lehnert Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese

Wonderfully clean sun kissed fruit from start to finish. Very well balanced with a lively finish of rich tropical tanginess and juicy acidity which really adds to the length and persistence. In an age when Spätlese tends to be a little too ripe and rich – declassified Auslese really – this is a breath of fresh air. Light enough to have on its own but concentrated and well built to have with an array of foods, from spicy Asian to grilled sausages to crispy salads filled with stone fruits. Well done Mr. Bollig!

2011 Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Kabinett

Bright tropical fruits with cool mint herbs and subtle minerals. This is a classic style of Mosel Kabinett from the Prum estate. Juicy aromatics with nicely a textured and balanced mouth feel with really nice backing acidity which lets this linger on the palate. Perfect gateway wine to the rest of the portfolio.

Charles Baur Cremant d'Alsace Brut Rosé

How can you go wrong with a rosé sparkler—especially under the $15 mark? Made from Pinot Noir, this is jam-packed with crunchy red fruits and spicy strawberry sweetness. Delightful on its own, as an aperitif, with a first course salad, or with a plate of cheese and a hearty loaf of fresh-baked bread.
